Among the many pen names this author used was Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass.

Among the many pen names Samuel Clemens used prior to sticking with Mark Twain, was Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass.

Twain wrote three humorous pieces for the Keokuk Post in 1856 and 1857. He received $5 each for his efforts. Though not considered the apex of his literary career, they are considered significant in his development as a writer.
