Jefferson overtakes Madison!

Welcome back to all! After an extended Thanksgiving break, the Jeffersonia Blog has returned!

As we near the end of the season in Founding Fathers Football, there is some exciting news. Thomas Jefferson has overtaken Madison and finally cracks the Top 50! West Monroe now takes over first place with a commanding lead, followed by Hamilton. TJ is in third place, while Madison slips all the way back to 4th. Independence rounds out the Top 5.

In the Christian version of FFF, St. Thomas Aquinas, currently ranked first in the Nation, leads the way, followed closely by St. Ignatius.  St. Bonaventure is a distant third, with Trinity (of KY) and Godby (of FL) rounding out the Top 5.

Madison (Skyline) Drives ahead of Monroe

This week in Founding Fathers Football:

Yes! Another clever title! Its down to the wire as Madison High uses Skyline as a buffer to pad its slim lead over Monroe. Hamilton remains in the hunt in 3rd place. Thomas Jefferson, Columbus and Independence all remain unchanged from last week, despite having only one loss between them.

Madison, Monroe Neck and Neck

This past weekend in Founding Fathers Football, undefeated Madison and West Monroe remain neck and neck (current ranking in HighschoolRivals’ Top 100 is 27th and 28th place, respectively). Hamilton is third (moving up a spot to 32nd). Thomas Jefferson remains fourth (in the 55th spot), with Columbus right behind him (no Columbus was not a Founding Father and is ineligible for the game, but he was respected by TJ and his portrait did hang in the Parlor at Monticello, so there). Independence is last, but scores points for reaching the highly ironic 76th spot (you know – spirit of ‘76 and whatnot)! [Note: If we included yearly celebrations, then Centennial would currently be in first place]. An interesting (if sad) sidebar: two Jefferson-named schools were defeated by Top100 teams this week.

For the Christian version of FFF, Trinity (of TX) and St. Thomas Aquinas
are battling it out for first (both in Christian FFF and HighschoolRivals Top 100). St. Ignatius is a close third.

Madison Cracks Top 30

We’ve been playing Founding Fathers Football (ok, I just made that up) all season long by following HighschoolRivals Top 100 teams. As the regular season comes to a close for most teams, Madison claws its way further into the Top 30, with an undefeated 6-0 record. West Monroe climbs to number 30, also undefeated at 7-0. Hamilton, who had the weekend off, climb two spots to 33.

Despite crushing West Mifflin 42-7, TJ of Jefferson Hills, PA drops 3 spots to 54th this week. Independence of Charlotte, NC jumps forward to number 81 and Columbus of Miami is riding TJ’s wake at number 54.

For the Civil War version of Founding Fathers Football, Union is at 34 and Grant of Sacramento splits the south at 74.

Finally, the two Trinitys (at numbers 1 and 75) look like they will stand alone without a third for the season.
